Hello dreamers, this blog post is about one the most popular social media apps out there: Instagram. How many times have you been wondering which picture should you post next, or how to attract audience's attention with the right story or caption? Well I'm guessing a lot of times. I am here to give some tips and tricks on how to improve your instagram image but also how you can grow your audience and your engagement rates.
1. Post quality pictures 📸
No-one wants a blurry, ugly pixelated photo on his feed. Posting high quality images is the number one instagram rule. If you cannot afford a DSLR camera, there are endless options out there in smartphones with high quality cameras. If you are interested in becoming the next big instagram influencer you should definitely invest in good equipment.
2. Post engaging content 🏄🏼♀️
What is your true passion? What inspires you the most? Find the things you are interested in and make posts and stories about them. You could be a fashion influencer and create a fashion oriented profile with posts like your daily outfits, get ready with me videos on IGTV, inspiring outfits on how to wear the latest trends. There are all kind of influencers on Instagram like fashion bloggers, artists, beauty gurus and more.
3. Update your profile photo 👩🏻🦰
Choose a picture of you or put your brand logo if you have a business account. It's of great importance to have a good quality close up picture of yourself.
4. Revamp your bio 📜
Here is your chance to describe yourself within three words. Write something catchy, your life moto, your profession or something cute full of emojis or with a different font than the default Instagram one. Be spontaneous, exciting, fun to follow.
5. Be consistent 📅
Now that you have decided what you want to post about create a daily, weekly or monthly calendar. Find the best hours and days to post. If you don't know when is the right time to post, apps like When to post or Prime are there to help you find days and hours with the highest engagement rates. If you have a business account try to post daily and make more than 3 stories per day. If you have a personal account try to post on your best days maybe twice a week and make at least one story per day.
6. Use hashtags #️⃣
Hashtags are maybe the most important tip on Instagram. If you've just started your profile, hashtags can help you grow your audience, get more likes on photos and eventually get noticed. Instagram gives you the opportunity to use up to 30 hashtags per post, well why not use it all for your own benefit? Whereas in Instagram stories you can use up to 10 hashtags. Find hashtags that describes your picture the most. Don't use hashtags that have nothing to do with your picture only to get more likes and followers. Be honest, unique and you will definitely attract people's attention at the end of the day.
7. Use location 📍
Location is something that most people forget to use in their stories and posts. Through my experience location could bring a lot of traffic to your profile. Traffic can lead to followers' growth, increase in likes and comments. Try to use location in your daily stories and engage with people in your local area.
8. Be creative with captions ✒️
If you are not in the mood for a long, inspiring caption you can also use emojis, or just one word that describes perfectly the message you want to pass on to your audience. Catchy captions with emojis or quotes from a famous author are always a perfect match to a beautiful photo. Tip! Remember that big captions hold people more on the app and that works in your favor due to instragram's new algorithm.
9. Engage with others 🧍♀️ 🧍 🧍♂️
Find people within your community, engage with them, comment on pictures that you find interesting and inspiring. Follow people that can help you grow. Get inspired to be more artistic, find places that you want to visit though a travel influencer, use instagram in the best possible way in order to evolve. Follow people you find interesting and they may follow you back. Be part of a community and get noticed within it.
10. Tag accounts 🏷️
Are you a travel photographer and you take pictures from unique places around the globe? Well there are many accounts out there with thousands of followers that repost posts and stories from different accounts. Tag them in your stories or posts and you may find your photos featured in a famous instagram account. This is a great way to attract audience's attention and get recognised for your amazing photos.
