Habits are little actions that can change our daily life and in the long run improve our health and mood. In this blog post I will mention some of my favourite daily actions that can be really beneficial. Let's explore them together!

1. Wake up early

Ok I know, if you are not a morning person this kind of habit can be really hard to maintain but you can give it a try by doing small steps each day. You can try going to bed on a specific time each day. As for the morning you can set an alarm five minutes earlier for the next day until you reach your ideal wakeup time. A smart trick that can be proven helpful is to put your mobile or alarm away from you so that you have to get up in order to shut it off.

2. Drink water

I am this kind of person that doesn't like water, well to be honest I find it kind of boring, nevertheless is essential for our body. Try cutting off a slice of lemon or orange and put it in your glass or bottle. During the day you should keep next to you your favourite bottle (mine is a fuchsia bottle with a unicorn on it) and try to refill it every time is empty.

3. Make the bed

No one likes a messy bed right? Well have you noticed that every time you make your bed you feel instantly relaxed and ready to start the day, or I am the only one feeling this way? This action can signify that you 've started your day on the right foot, it is a small step closer to create your ideal morning routine.

4. Stretch/ Exercise

Every day working life can be overwhelming so that we loose balance between life and work. Though it is really important to take care of our body whenever possible! Try stretching for 5 minutes while you get out of bed or while you sit on your pc. Find a maximum of 20 minutes between your daily tasks and go for a run, or grab your yoga mat and do some exercising. Trust me your body will thank you later!

5. Declutter your space

A clean and tidy space can help you feel less anxious, more productive and it can actually sharpen your mental focus. During covid the majority of people are currently working from home, staying focused has become harder over time. This is why is important to maintain a clean desk and keep only the essentials on it.

6. Journalling

During a hard day when I am emotionally drained or physically tired, journalling has given me that kind of boost I need. A piece of paper and a pen can help you express your feelings and be emotionally relieved. Try writing for a maximum of 15 minutes everyday, at first you will feel like you don't know what to write about, it's totally fine, it has happened to everyone but as time goes by you will fill the empty pages in a blink of an eye.

7. Meditate

I 've been trying meditation for one year now and every time I practice it I realize how essential it is for the human body to relax and take long and deep breaths. If you feel like you don't know where to start from or you find it hard to stay on track, try downloading a meditation apps like Balance or watch Headspace guide to meditation on Netflix.

8. Read a book

Books can have a huge effect on you, they help you broaden your horizons, change your mindset and the way you encounter life. All you need is just 10 pages of your favourite book every day. If you are in need of creating a routine, try reading Atomic Habits by James Clear or The power of habit by Charles Duhigg.

9. Light up a candle

My favourite part of the day is when I light up my favourite candle, make a cup of hot tea and grab my favourite book (well to be honest I read books on iPad - but you get my point). The smell of a vanilla or lavender candle can change the way we feel in space and calm our mind.

10. Celebrate small victories

Every day that we live is a small victory! Write down on a post-it one good thing that happened today and put it in a jar. Writing down a happy thought will instantly draw a smile on your face. Open the jar once in a while when you feel down and read the small achievements you 've made throughout the year. Good things can be a new recipe, a book, a small painting, a walk by the sea, whatever have made you feel nice and important.

Forming habits is a way of achieving small every day goals that can lead you to the right path, that of creating your dream life. Make tiny little steps every day and you will soon be able to conquer the world...
